The Beta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International was founded in Richmond, VA on May 16, 1936 at the Virginia State meeting held in Williamsburg. We are women professional educators living and/or working in the Richmond Metropolitan Area. We are members of the Ellinor Preston Coordinating Council of the Virginia State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The Blankenship/Lokerson Recruitment Grant (Formerly Frances N. Wimer Recruitment Grant)
The grant consists of $1,000 paid directly to a rising junior, senior, or postgraduate at an accredited college/university who plans to pursue a teaching career.
If you meet the following qualifications, consider applying for this grant
The applicant must be:
a. a female, rising junior or senior or graduate level at a college/university in Virginia;
b. majoring in a teacher preparation curriculum;
c. carrying a full-time credit load as determined by her university/college;
d. maintaining at least a 3.0 grade average; and
e. a resident of the greater Richmond area: City of Richmond, counties of Henrico, Powhatan, Goochland, Chesterfield, Charles City, New Kent, and Hanover.
